Cesena is located in a strategical position halfway between the sea and the hills, along the roman road Via Emilia.

Known for being the hometown to three Popes, the town counts among its treasures the Malatestian Library, one of the oldest libraries in the world, and the extremely valuable miniated manuscripts kept within it; the Bonci Theatre; the Masini Fountain, over which towers the imposing fortress known as Rocca Malatestiana; and the Santa Maria del Monte Abbey, looking upon the town from above.

The Benedictine of Santa Maria del Monte are specialised in the restoration of ancient books.

Some of the nearby towns are also well worth a visit, from Bertinoro, well-known for its celebrated wines, to the renowned thermal spa in Castrocaro and Terra del Sole.

In the summer the nearby seaside resort of Cesenatico offers the chance to enjoy some evening shopping in its characteristic street markets, the best known being the "Mercatino dei Puffi" taking place every Wednesday in Piazza delle Conserve.
